Cinco dog Mayo

My apologies to the Mexican community for the terrible pun.  Actually, it was more like siete hot dogs with no mayo plus siete lime-cilantro sausages plus grill fries, but that doesn’t make for a very interesting blog title.  Or does it?

Cinco de Mayo is all about the Mexican food, but not at our house this year (unless you consider lime-cilantro sausages Mexican food).  Today was about getting dinner done with what we had on hand while escaping from a day of frustrations at work.  Mission accomplished.  Actually, the sausages were pretty good and had a nice bite to them.

For those that were wondering why siete hot dogs and sausages, that’s the way they were packaged.  This to me is a conspiracy with the hot dog bun industry; it was bad enough when hot dogs came in packages of 10 while buns came in packages of 8, and you had to buy 4 packages of hot dogs and 5 packages of buns to get them to come out even.  Even the kids get tired of hot dogs after eating 40 of them.  Now, if I do the math correctly, you have to purchase 8 packages of hot dogs and 7 packages of buns to get them to come out even.  That’s 56 hot dogs, and unless you are in training for an eating competition, that’s way too much fast food to have in your freezer.
