Mothers Day Grill

by zydecopaws on May 10, 2009

The wife (and mother of my kids) picked out the menu for today.  The original plans almost came to a screeching halt, but were rescued when a source of good asparagus was found during an afternoon shopping expedition.  I didn’t ask what else was purchased, and probably don’t want to know…

On the grill:

Obviously all of this is a repeat somehow as there are links to recipes for the entire meal.  No matter; what mom wants, mom gets, especially today.  As it turned out, I came dangerously close to firing up the Mothership today (seemed appropriate), but instead decided to go ahead and load up the Performer and see if I could pull off putting this much food on a smaller grill.  As it turns out, I had to take the sweet potatoes off before there was room for the asparagus.  The pears don’t go on until everything else comes off anyway, so this wasn’t unusual.

Mom was pleased with the results.  And that is all that really mattered.

Vital Statistics:

  • BBQ Start time: 17:15
  • Meal time: 18:30
  • Temperature:     67°F
  • Dew Point:     37°F
  • Humidity:    33%
  • Wind:    E at 3mph
  • Daily Precip.:    0.00 in

It was a beautiful day this morning and clouded up shortly before the grill got pulled out.  The forecast is for sprinkles tonight, but none happened in time to dampen the BBQ.  Wouldn’t have stopped me anyway; it’s pretty easy to pull the Performer under cover somewhere.  Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there, and especially to my dear wife.  Any woman that can put up with me and the kids has to be special somehow…
