Cajun King Salmon and Crab Cakes

The girls went to Pacific Northwest Best Fish Co. today and picked up some king salmon and crap (oops) crab cakes, and naturally it was up to me to do something with them on the grill.  When asked how she wanted the salmon fixed, Auntie said “Cajun style”, which immediately gave me license to heat up the palate.  So I sprinkled on some granulated garlic, cayenne pepper, and a lot of the McCormicks Bayou Cajun Seasoning mix on the salmon, slapped it on a grill plate with the two crab cakes, and on the grill it went.

Now before anyone says anything about that picture, my wife has already pointed out to me that it looks disturbingly like Bart Simpson.  And since I don’t want Matt Groening and his legal team after me, I offer up the following disclaimer:

Now that we have that out of the way, back to the BBQ.  I added some grilled zucchini slices with olive oil, garlic salt, and fresh ground pepper to the grill to prove that we eat veggies around here.

Any resemblance to Bart Simpson in a bizarre zucchini bush is purely coincidental.  The final picture should make that abundantly clear.

On a serious (?) note, the dinner was darn good.  We served up the grilled food with some brown rice, the kids fought over the crab cakes with their mother and Auntie, and the fish had just the right bite to it.  Not bad for a Wednesday night…
