Hot doggie

Summer (and good weather) is fast coming to an end. The kids go back to school in a couple of weeks, and not every day at the lake is a day at the beach (so to speak).

Today was filled with a number of what were supposed to be small chores but turned into wrestling matches with poorly-designed coat racks, noisy ceiling fans, and dog toys on the roof (don’t ask). When dinnertime rolled around, it was gonna be something easy or we were eating out again. Since I’m more than a bit tired of eating out (3 times yesterday, again, don’t ask), it was off to the refrigerator to see what could be whipped up with little effort.

So out of the freezer came some chicken sausages and beef hot dogs. On the grill they went with some onions and peppers in foil.

About 15 minutes later everything was done. I normally cook the onions and peppers longer than this, so they were still a little on the crisp side, but that didn’t affect the taste much.

For sides I whipped up another batch of cabbage slaw, some cucumber-tomoato-onion salad, and sliced up half a watermelon. It don’t get much easier than this.

Sure beat eating out, and there were certainly no complaints from the peanut gallery.
