Back to school sausages

by zydecopaws on September 9, 2009

The kiddies went back to school today, and in honor of their survival (and no calls from the school) we cooked up some garlic and gruyere chicken sausages, beef franks, beans, and onions and peppers on the grill.

As you can see from the picture, leftovers are in their future for lunch tomorrow. As for tonight, here’s a sample of what the finished product looked like.

The beans were actually something whipped together at the last minute when a search of the pantry revealed no Bush’s beans of any sort. Or any other pre-mixed beans. What you see here is a can each of pinto and kidney beans with some catsup, mustard, Sweet Baby Rays Original recipe, brown sugar, dried onion flakes, molasses, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce all mixed together well and slapped in the bean pot over the flames for about 20 minutes. Don’t ask what the proportions were, because no measuring occurred during tonight’s cooking process. Just know that the end result was very good, and very gone…
