Virtual Pizza? Nah, it’s steak!

I work for a global organization and am fortunate enough to work from home most of the time. One of the implications of this is that although I attend all-hands meetings virtually, I’m rarely there in person to take advantage of any refreshments that might be served. Tonight the folks in corporate were treated to pizza, most likely from one of the local pizza chains that delivers.

Now I’m sure I could have had pizza on the kettle, but what fun would that be when I can make people jealous? So the menu very quickly became ribeye steak, baked potatoes, foiled onions and peppers, and foiled mushrooms to top the steak.

In order to keep things simple, foiled items were prepared in advance, and spices were limited to salt, pepper, garlic powder, butter, and a splash of white wine for the mushrooms, salt and pepper for the onions and peppers, and butter, salt, and pepper for the potatoes. The steaks were marinated in advance with a bit of soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and some Mesquite Grill Seasoning. The kettle was fired prior to the meeting, the foiled item went on the grill, and the steaks were cooked at the first break.

The results beat the heck out of lukewarm delivery pizza, and it was even more fun sharing pictures with some of my peers what was on the menu outside of corporate. Oh, and there were apple slices for dessert.

Who says late night meetings have to be bland and boring?
