It’s official, we’re living with a teenager again. Younger daughter turned 13 yesterday, and when asked what she wanted for dinner responded with “BBQ”. That’s my girl. When asked specifically what she wanted, she decided to go with one of the old traditional meals (at least around here). Teriyaki strips…
And trashbag potatoes…
And green bean casserole from Mom (never mind that this is on the menu again in less than a week).
After I got started I realized that this was the first time I’ve done trashbags and teriyaki strips on Bubba Ho-Keg. So I took advantage of the high direct heat and not only had the taters done in 30 minutes but managed to char a few of them that were on the bottom (for some reason, some folks seem to like them this way; personally, I don’t get it).
Today the real fun begins; cleaning all the mess off Bubba Ho-Keg’s grill. In case the disclaimer isn’t in the recipe, teriyaki strips have a tendency to leave a huge amount of carbon on the grill. Must be all that sugar in the marinade. But it’s worth the effort.

Funny, I just did teriyaki wings on the Egg today for the elder boy and his gal and yeah….the sugars can “caramelize” the crap out of a grill grate, can’t they?
I’m not sure I can think of anything that leave a bigger mess on the grill.
I agree with you guys, it leaves a mess. But, it is so good. The whole dinner looks great.
