It seems I have a real issue following instructions. You’d think I could do something like Wordless Wednesday right, but apparently not. Those that showed up immediately following my post last night were treated to additional words in the blog title, and more than one picture. Both of these infractions caused me to be roundly criticized on Twitter (not unusual) and to actually edit a post for something other than a spelling or grammar mistake that slipped through the review process (this rarely happens).
So tonight I bring you the picture that didn’t make it last night, since the tacos we had tonight were made from its leftovers.

Yep, that’s right, tri-tip roasts on Bubba Ho-Keg, nicely grilled over some fragrant mesquite and rubbed with a complementary sweet mesquite grill seasoning after being marinated in a red wine/Worcestershire/soy sauce mixture. The leftover roast was pulled from the refrigerator tonight, sliced thin, and sauteed with some sliced onions and peppers. Other fajita makings were prepared, and dinner was served.

You gotta love tri-tips. They are a lean and flavorful cut that is about as versatile a cut of beef as there is. And these fajitas disappeared in a hurry as a testament to their tastiness.
Now I just have to go back into hiding so the Blog Police can’t find me…

Now those tacos look very tasty. Did you make the tortillas? They look hand made.
They are handmade, but not by us. I have yet to invest in a tortilla press, although I keep threatening to. These were some more of the sun-dried tomato-habanero tortillas we had awhile back; the wife gets them at Trader Joe’s.
No apologies necessary! This wordless wednesday thing pisses me off every week. There are some fantastic pictures posted every week but I have no idea what I’m looking at! What’s the point? If you want to try “A few words Wednesday”, it’s got my vote!
I think it might be a way for bloggers to take a day off in the middle of the week. Sort of puts those without camera skills (or at least interesting pictures) at a disadvantage, but is certainly a no-brainer when it comes to thinking up a post name and all that writing nonsense that a normal post takes…
I have never tried as tri tip and after seeing them cooked here I checked at the grocery store and they did not have one. Are those something you get at a butcher shop? There are several here locally so I am sure I can find some.
I think tri-tips are a West Coast thing as I’ve heard several folks from other parts of the country complain about the same thing. We get them at Costlyco in the big cryovac bags; they are at all the warehouse stores and Cash & Carries out here. I would imagine you would need to go to a butcher and ask for them if they aren’t in the supermarkets in your area.
Damn! Those look majorly tasty!
Those look quite good! We can’t get tri-tips around here. Well, Big Dude did but he bought 1/2 of a cow and that’s a bit of a stretch for me storage-wise.
Apparently you aren’t alone in your quest for tri-tips. It seems that it is a very popular cut on the West Coast and virtually non-existent in other parts of the country. You might try going to a butcher and seeing if they will cut some for you, although I shudder at the cost of custom cuts.
We buy them in the large Cryovac packages at the local warehouse store, repackage them with a Foodsealer, and freeze them until we’re ready to pull them out.
I am east coast (Massachusetts) and I went by the Butcher shop today and he did have a few tri tips. I asked why they are not popular and he had no real reason, he said he likes them. Who knew?
Woohoo for being on the West Coast!
