Surf and Turf-iyaki

by zydecopaws on January 6, 2011

Auntie is leaving tomorrow and in spite of all my efforts to the contrary decided she wanted to have shrimp and teriyaki strips for dinner tonight. Well, to be honest, she wanted shrimp and felt sorry for younger daughter who she knows doesn’t like it. So the teriyaki strips were added to “round out the meal”.

Don’t get me wrong, the teriyaki strips are really good. I just got so tired of cooking them so often; for several years before I started this blog, they were easily the most requested item on the menu and it seemed like I was cooking a batch at least once a week.

I suppose I shouldn’t complain, as it has been a few months now since I last made them. And they paired well with the shrimp, which was dusted with some Cajun seasoning mix, grilled on Bubba Ho-Keg, and then drizzled with a Cajun butter sauce at the table.

Besides, a meat-fest is on tap next week as a response to all the fish and foo-foo meals recently. And there are rumors that Bubba Ho-Keg will soon be living at the lake since a younger brother is expected to be delivered in the near future…
