  • Hamburgers
  • Rib Rub Chicken Breasts
  • Baked Pears

That’s right, I said hamburgers.  She Who Must Be Obeyed thought it was Independence Day without the fireworks and all the other people.  That must have something to do with me never cooking hamburgers any other time.  Today I made an exception since we had some buns in the freezer that had been hanging around since the Superbowl.  The burgers turned out real tasty, especially with some nice red onion, swiss cheese, and sauteed mushrooms.

The chicken was in preparation for the week; I wanted something tasty for lunches since I’m not sure if I will have time to BBQ anything during the week.  I got out the handy rib rub, sprinkled it generously over the chicken breasts, and stuck them on the grill.  This gets some real good results for not a lot of work.

img_0211Dessert was on the grill again today.  Think grilled bananas, only with pears instead of the bananas.  Same basic idea; cut up the pears into chunks, throw on a little butter, and sprinkle with some brown sugar and cinnamon.  Wrap it all up in foil, put it directly over the coals while you are eating the rest of your meal, and come time for dessert you have a tasty bowl of cooked fruit.

Today was pretty clear most of the day.  It was supposed to rain, but once again the weather service got it wrong.  If it had been warmer, I might have been able to convince the wife it actually was July 4…
