Let the Playoffs Begin

by zydecopaws on January 7, 2012

Now that the NFL playoffs have begun, I figured I better get some practice cooking finger food on the off-chance I get invited to someone’s house for a Super Bowl party. So for starters there were MOINKs on the BS Keg.

This batch was dusted with some Original recipe rub from The Rub Company, smoked for about an hour, then glazed with some Asian NoBob sauce leftover from the Christmas wings. Oh, and did someone mention wings?

The wings were sprinkled with Cajun seasoning mix, then basted with some private-recipe (aka science experiment) Asian Twang BBQ sauce from Big Butz BBQ. I’m pretty sure you can’t buy this from him (yet), but it made for some real nice wings. Add some veggies and dip, and you’ve got food made to eat in front of the big screen TV.

Pay no attention to the Lil’ Smokies covered in pineapple-teriyaki sauce. It isn’t like they were cooked on the BS Keg with everything else and were camera-shy…

I picked a horrible week to start losing weight. I’m so hungry now!

The wings sound enticing, Asian Twang, huh? Something to look forward to.

I don’t know that Tom has plans to bring this one to market. He told me he has mainly been using it on salads…

Always a sucker for da “MOINK!” And, i love that you let the lil’ smokies hang out at the party. They’re a tasty, albeit much maligned food.

I think we classify the lil’ smokies as a “guilty pleasure”. The pineapple-teriyaki sauce makes them even more of a pleasure.

The play off food looks great. Lil’ smokies, the Rodney Dangerfield of weiners….I’ll have to try pineaple teriyaki sauce for a different taste. Looks like ya survived the “explosions” of New Years eve. I hope 2012 is happy and prosperous for all at No Excuses BBQ from all of us here at Old Smoke’s Kitchen…..:)

Those wings…

There goes my New Year’s resolution.

Willing to disclose how you managed to get that Asian NoBob sauce from BigButzBBQ?

The Asian NoBob sauce is my creation based on a recipe I found on The BBQ Brethren Forums; the Asian Twang sauce came from Tom at Big Butz BBQ. Tom was nice enough to include it in with a sizable order I made around the holidays. Did I mention that Big Butz BBQ sauce and rubs make a great holiday gift basket, especially when he offers them up in a nice portable soft cooler?

As for the Asian NoBob sauce, the recipe can be found at the bottom of this post.
