Today was a particularly annoying day at work, so it seemed only right to correct the day by cooking dinner outdoors.  She Who Must Be Obeyed (SWMBO) suggested that I cook up some fancy chicken-spinach-fontina cheese-roasted garlic sausages that she picked up at the local warehouse store.  Rooting around in the cupboards and refrigerator yielded some name-brand grilling beans as well as a sweet onion and yellow pepper; all that was missing was the bananas for dessert.  SWMBO spotted those (no pun intended, even though they were a bit on the brown-spotted side) and the menu was set.

Surprisingly enough, this meal not only was real tasty, but it didn’t take very long to cook.  Everything was done directly over the coals; the beans were boiling in a couple of minutes and the onion-pepper mix had to be turned constantly to keep the char to a minimum.  The sausages took very little time to not only get some nice grill marks, but to heat up thoroughly.  The bananas went on the grill when everything else came off, and were ready to eat about the time the rest of the chow had disappeared.  This was definitely a good end to a less-than-optimal day.  Just goes to show that BBQ makes everything better…

The weather cleared up today; the snow is gone and the sun was out.  It was still sweater weather, but my only complaint was that I was cooped up indoors and on conference calls for most of the day.  At least I got my outdoor fix when dinnertime rolled around…
