11 Year Old Surf & Turf

No, it isn’t the Surf & Turf that’s 11, it’s the Little Red Haired Boy. 11 years is a bit too long to age the beef before turning it into teriyaki strips

It appears that the boy is following in his father’s footsteps and by the teen years will be eating his parents out of house and home. Guess I’m going to have to unretire and actually brush the dust off the consulting business. And no, I have no intention of starting a restaurant (that one’s for you Pigdog; I have no intention of doing all the work while you’re out schmoozing customers and collecting money).

But back to the Birthday Boy. He knows what he wants to eat, and it is quite possibly the messiest meal we make around here, especially one that grills up so fast. The rest of the menu consisted of shrimp, trashbag potatoes, corn (in foil, also cooked on the grill), and grilled pineapple (which wasn’t done in time to make it into the photo; I ran out of grill space on the BS Keg).

At least I got to pick the shrimp seasonings. This batch was cooked in a basket after being coated with a lemon, butter, garlic, parsley, and red pepper mixture that turned the rest of the photos into smoke-obscured pictures not worthy of being in this post.

And much to her chagrin, Younger Daughter’s present to her brother was cleaning up the mess I made while cooking. Come to think of it, that made for a nice advance Fathers Day gift as well.

I think now I’ll go see what else we have in the cabinet that has been aged for more than 11 years. I’m pretty sure I can find something to celebrate with…
