Grilling with the Flavor Forecast

by zydecopaws on June 26, 2013

No Excuses BBQ is teaming up with McCormick Grill Mates again this year to share new products and trends from McCormick Grill Mates and Lawry’s Flavor Forecast 2013: GRILLING EDITION. Like last year, those kind folks at McCormick provided me with samples of a few of their latest products which we’ll be highlighting in future posts over the course of the summer.

But first I want to recommend you all head over to GrillingFlavorForecast.com and check out the cool recipes and flavor trends to watch out for in the coming months. Or at least as soon as you’re done with this post, as I took my own advice and tried out a couple of recipes for myself. And naturally, will share here.

First off was a Grilled Moroccan Spice Chicken recipe (their pictures in the 5-Minute Marinating section of GrillingFlavorForecast.com). I actually followed a recipe for a change, and the results were very tasty. Of course, my pictures aren’t quite as professional as theirs. But then again, I got to eat my chicken…

Since we were having a Mediterranean-themed dinner, it seemed only right to use their recipe for hummus (pictures in the Breads on the Grill section). And then take a picture of my results of once again mostly following the recipe (I purposely made a double batch and added more red pepper than called for along with a tablespoon or so of tahini sauce).

The results were downright tasty, and the entire meal took just over 30 minutes to prepare. Of course, using fresh veggies was in keeping with the Mediterranean theme, not because I was trying to keep the cooking times down.

Ok, now you can go check out all their recipes and flavor profiles. Over the next couple of months I expect to experiment on some friends (likely Pigdog and his clan) using a combination of their recipes (or at least my take on them) and some of the goodies they sent along for me to use. Stay tuned, because if tonight’s meal was any indication, there are some good times and great meals ahead.

Disclaimer: Yeah, they paid me for this post. And they gave me a bunch of goodies. But none of the goodies were harmed in the cooking of this meal, and my cupboards are full of McCormick spices in large containers that I paid for myself. That’s my way of saying I might have written this post without compensation. But lets just keep that our little secret…
