Backseat

Blogging has taken a bit of a backseat lately to a host of other activities. Cooking hasn’t. Scary-yaki was followed up with a bison version (this is what happens when you buy the extra large bag of yakisoba noodles at the warehouse store).

Did I mention there were a lot of noodles?

Enough to fully fill the wok, which isn’t a small one. And today, it was time for the return of spatchcocked game hens.

We haven’t had game hens in quite awhile, so I celebrated by cooking up some braised red cabbage (German style) to go with the roasted potatoes. One must have appropriate sides when serving up small birds…

I’m already being asked about what will go with the leftover red cabbage for tomorrow’s dinner. I’m thinking that it might be time to dig through the German cookbooks for some more European ideas.

Too bad I don’t have any rabbit on hand…

I have GOT to break out some Cornish game hen cooks, I bet it has been 2 years since we’ve cooked them. We like them, just don’t do them often enough.

That’s officially too long between hens.
