We finally eat a vegetable

August 8, 2010

Repeat after me: MOINK is not a vegetable. And with all the MOINK dishes lately, we haven’t had a lot of roughage around here. So tonight we made up for it by cooking a bunch of green stuff, some fruit, and for good measure, some Cajun shrimp. The foil package contained some fresh green beans [...]

The Guest chose the menu last night…

May 14, 2010

… but who am I to complain. After all, if it wasn’t for Auntie we wouldn’t be looking forward to traipsing through Jolly Old England and sampling the wares at the Guinness Storehouse and Scotch Whisky Experience while on vacation the next two weeks. Somebody has to watch the kids, dog, and house while we’re [...]

In order to offset all that orange, foo-foo green salad with dried cranberries and crushed walnuts mixed with a bleu cheese vinaigrette was added [...]

A Heathen saves some Catholics from going to Hell on a Meat Rap

February 26, 2010

Another Friday afternoon in Lent rolls around, and my lovely Catholic wife wanders into my office and announces that she is cooking pasta with a nice sausage-tomato sauce for dinner. As much as I would have liked that for dinner, I did the right thing and saved her from whatever additional Hell she would have [...]

If it smells like fish…

January 13, 2010

… it probably is. Salmon. And shrimp. With spicy stuff, and grilled on Bubba Ho-Keg. The salmon filets were sprinkled with Bayou Cajun seasoning mix, granulated garlic, red chili powder, and cayenne pepper. The shrimp was brushed with a mixture of melted butter, white wine, red chili powder, and cayenne pepper. Talk about a quick [...]
