FAQ
Even though we haven’t been asked very many questions yet, here are some answers to some we dreamed up…
Why are you doing this?
Because it combines my love of BBQ with the geeky side of my nature. And because there aren’t enough good BBQ sites and blogs out there. And because it forces me to be accountable. And lastly, just because it is fun. There isn’t enough fun in the world, and I’m going to insure I get my share.
Is this a commercial site?
Not really, but we are a member of the Amazon Associate program and will be using Google AdSense in a responsible fashion, hopefully without annoying the crap out of our readers a few other affiliate programs. Our goal is to keep this site about BBQ, and not crass commercialism. We don’t recommend stuff we don’t use, but occasionally an ad will creep in for something we wouldn’t ordinarily recommend. We’ll try to keep them out, but no promises so if you see a link to product it is because we think enough of it to tell others where to get it.
Why is the bit about Adsense crossed out?
For a variety of reasons we have decided to remove Adsense at this time. It has nothing to do with any issues with Google, but more with our desire to improve readability and navigation on the site. Further, we weren’t able to figure out what Alice in Chains had to do with BBQ, and we kept seeing links showing up for them on occasion.
If it is about BBQ and not crass commercialism, why do the Amazon Associate thing?
The last time we checked, our ISP was charging us for this site and the domain name. We’d like to make enough to pay for our expenses, and we hope that others share our opinion about some of the cool stuff we use enough to buy some of it for themselves.
Can I come over for dinner?
Only with my wife’s permission. Don’t just show up without calling, and make sure you bring something for dessert if you want to get invited back.
What does SWMBO stand for?
She Who Must Be Obeyed. This is my lovely wife, who occasionally reads this and (hopefully) still has a since of humor. Hi Dear…
How long should I cook stuff?
Preferably until it’s done. To be on the safe side, use a good thermometer (we like the instant read digital variety, specifically the Thermapen) and refer to an approved reference (like this one) for the correct internal temperature.
